Private photos from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding last year have started appearing on social media after their New York-based photographer’s computer was hacked.
Dozens of Alexi Lubomirski’s black and white pictures tagged “preview” of Harry and Meghan at their Windsor Castle wedding last May appeared on Twitter and Instagram in the last few days, prompting an immediate response from the palace.
“Security was compromised,” a royal source told The Sun newspaper. “Pictures were hacked then leaked.” According to the newspaper, officials at Kensington Palace launched an immediate investigation to try to stop the leak, which palace officials said was now contained.
The hackers reportedly struck last September, with the pictures only appearing in the last few days.
Lubomirski, 43, initially started working for celebrity photographer Mario Testino, one of Princess Diana’s favorite photographers. He hails from a Polish aristocratic family, and was chosen by Harry, 34 and Meghan, 37, to shoot their engagement photographs in December 2017 as well as their May wedding last year.
