Vanessa Hudgens is the indisputable Queen of Coachella.
The actress, 30, is a perennial presence at the California music festival, always clad in over-the-top bohemian outfits complete with fringe, bright prints and floppy hats. In 2016, she even dropped $190 for a manicure embellished with Swarovski crystals and metallic pot leaves.
But while she’s been accused of cultural appropriation in the past for wearing face paint, bindis, feathered headdresses and dreamcatchers to the fest, there’s only one Coachella look Hudgens truly regrets.
“I remember one year [2012] I stayed in an RV and I didn’t have a full length mirror,” the star told People. “It was cold and raining so I wore rain boots with thigh high tights. It was just not a good look.”
These days, Hudgens’ Coachella outfit-planning process is more methodical. “When I first started going, I would just throw tons of stuff into my suitcase and see what I put together [at the festival],” she said. “Now, because I don’t have enough time, I try to just put together a few outfits the day before I go, then [pick based on] how I’m feeling that day.”
Coachella 2019 will kick off on April 12; headliners include Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala.
